For an evening of drinks and a little of this and that, Kappaya offers plenty to choose from. The menu lists grilled fish including mejashi, shishamo, Pacific saury, mackerel, Atka mackerel and yellowtail collar—good options when you want fish to take centre stage.
In the evening, ordering several small plates lets you put together a meal at your own pace. One diner who stopped by for an after-party chose grilled edamame and rolled omelette with whitebait; the edamame’s smoky, roasted flavour made it enjoyable even after a filling meal. The whitebait omelette is also on the menu, along with dishes ranging from beef tendon stew and steamed clams with sake to fried gyoza.
The drinks list includes draft beer, dark beer and Hoppy, as well as lemon and oolong sours and highballs. You could pair beer with edamame or yakitori, or opt for a sour or highball with fish or simmered dishes, depending on your mood.
